Diploma nurses has ended and the requirement of formal education and training in universities and colleges are required and the focus has change from basic skills to advanced knowledge and practice, as we can see now that baccalaureate degree is required as the entry level into nursing practice IOM recommendation. Here in Texas at least 95% of hospitals required BSN to be employed.in the 20thcentury advanced degree in nursing were uncommon. Nurses obtained PhD or EdD .these education focus on education or other health related field so they can be teacher at the universities, but there was no nursing content from the programs (Carter,2013).
