Strategic group members are companies who are similar in size–sales revenue, number of employees, etc. These are typically known as a company’s major competitors. List the competitors and discuss which companies would most likely sit closest together on a grid or map because they are direct rivals. Note the companies that would sit furthest from the top rivals. What are the competitive advantages for members within the strategic group? Also, review the market of current and potential customers for the industry. Who are the target markets for the group members? What appeals might be used to attract consumers within the market (i.e. social media, e-tailing)? What marketing strategies might be used to build relationship with consumers in these markets?
